Professor Wu Xinbo Elected as Chairperson of Shanghai Association of American Studies (SAAS)

 On the afternoon of May 14th, the 2021 Academic Annual Conference cum General Assembly of Shanghai Association of American Studies (SAAS) was convened at the Auditorium of Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations (SFSSA). Professor Wu Xinbo, Dean of the Institute of International Studies and Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University succeeded in being elected to SAAS as Chairperson. Professor Song Guoyou, Deputy Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University and Professor Xin Qiang, Deputy Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University took up the roles of Vice Chair and Secretary-General respectively via the SAAS Assembly balloting rounds.

Vice President Ren Xiaowen of Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations (SFSSA) presented attendance at the Election Assembly. In the plenary remarks, Mr. Ren extended congratulations on Professor Wu’s election as Chair of SAAS with anticipation that the newly-elected leading team and council members would usher in the spheres of American studies. Premiere SAAS Chair Ding Xinghao and SAAS second-continuum Chair Huang Renwei conveyed heartfelt congratulations and wished best for Professor Wu Xinbo’s continued success to carry forward the cause pioneered by predecessors while forging ahead into the future to score paramount brilliance in the scope of academe researching on American studies.

   In the ensuing wrap-up session, Professor Wu Xinbo's delivery of the fabulous keynote academic lecture entitled “Scenarios of China-U.S. Relations under the Biden Administration” and Professor Huang Renwei’s thematic sequel presentation on “Medium-and-Long-term Strategic Perceptions in Sino-U.S. Relations” reaped thought-provoking repercussions in prodigious accolades.
